Living Together

Developing Student Leadership and Social Involvement in the TAU Dormitories

Living Together” is operated in cooperation with the Student's Association and dormitory management to promote entrepreneurship, student leadership, and social involvement. The program transforms the constraints of living in dormitories into an opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills. Most dormitory students come from Israel’s social and geographic periphery. Those selected to participate in the program (both Arab and Jewish) are second or third year university students who live in the dormitories. Their role is to become mentors for freshmen students; they guide them through the social and academic complexities of the first year of studies, provide educational assistance, and introduce new students to the campus’s rich social and cultural life. They are also responsible for initiating social projects in the dormitories that will benefit all TUA dorm residents. The goal of the program is twofold: to help all new dormitory students successfully integrate into the university’s social and academic life, and to contribute to a positive micro and macro on-campus living environment that will influence everyone’s university experience.
